UTS offers more than 100 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate
courses across the Faculties of:
Business; Design, Architecture and Building; Education;
Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; Information
Technology; Law; Nursing, Midwifery and Health; Science; and the
Institutes for International Studies and Sustainable Futures.
These Faculties and Institutes produce pioneering research in
areas ranging from the creative arts to nanotechnology. UTS has
developed a reputation for research in emerging fields,
establishing research centres and groups in disciplines such as
forensic science, sustainability and water management. All UTS
faculties, as well as the Institutes for International Studies and
Sustainable Futures, offer a range of research degrees.
Through INSEARCH UTS, the University provides English language

International student services
UTS students enjoy a wide range of support services and
facilities. These include English language support, learning
assistance centres, student and career counselling, health and
housing services, sporting facilities, a peer support network, a
students' association and student orientation. Students have access
to more than 880 general use computers, many available 24 hours a
day, in addition to faculty and library computer facilities.
Sporting facilities available at UTS include a gymnasium, squash
courts and outdoor basketball/volleyball court. In addition, UTS
students have access to Kookaburra Lodge at the foot of the Snowy
Mountains. UTS students can also join one or more of the many
social and sporting clubs that are part of the vibrant UTS city
life.
Accommodation
UTS is surrounded by popular student suburbs such as Surry
Hills, Glebe and Newtown, and the majority of UTS international
students choose to live in private accommodation in and around the
city, often sharing with other students. However a number of UTS
student residences located only minutes from the City campus are
home to some students. Accommodation for UTS students is organised
by the UTS Housing Service where the International Housing Officer
can find suitable temporary, private or University accommodation
for new students.

Airport pickup
A Student Reception Desk is available at Sydney Airport to
welcome newly arriving students. This desk is staffed to assist
students arriving in Sydney for the first time.
Orientation meetings
UTS organises an International Student Orientation Program
(ISOP) for new students during the week prior to the start of each
semester. This program is designed to familiarise new students with
the University's services and facilities. It is also an opportunity
for students to meet other new students and staff.

Opportunities to study abroad
The UTS Study Abroad program allows you to spend one or two
semesters in Sydney studying at undergraduate or postgraduate
level. A wide range of subjects are available across nine faculties
and one institute. These will complement the course you are
studying at your home institution or cover areas in which you have
a particular interest. Subjects in most faculties are available to
Study Abroad students who satisfy subject prerequisites. To add to
your Australian experience, you may choose subjects in Australian
history or culture; for example, Aboriginal culture. You may also
choose to undertake South-East Asian studies from an Australian
perspective.
